Elephanta Caves-Part 2

Another notable structure is that of “Lakulisa-Yogishwar Shiva” i.e. Shiva in meditation. Here Shiva sits cross-legged on a Padmasans or lotus Seat. The face is much damaged. But one can observe a placid expression.

My favorite is Kalyansundar Murti or marriage of Shiva and Parvati. It is much damaged , but beautifully carved. One can observe the various robes and ornaments depicted here.

One needs to take a boat from India Gate to Gharapuri  ( official name of Elephanta Island). The last boat leaves India Gate around 2:30 p.m. and the last returning boat from Elephanta is at 5:30 p.m. Though it includes a long walk from boat station and a bit of climbing, it is worth to witness these ancient marvel.

Longer you live , more you appreciate life.So as years progressed, I realized that life has too much to offer. It is full of options and contradictions.Every moment comes with a different experience. At this point, I felt need of platform to keep a journal of all those experiences for reference. This is how this blog came into picture. I prefer pictures as I am too lazy to type. But truth is that I find it difficult to express most of time. Here pictures come to my rescue. Essentially , this blog is a journal of my experiments with life. But then I found that it is taste of liquor of life which motivates me. -:)
